Bronchitis in children can be common as they can get it as easily as adults. The attacks are usually mild and are often viral in nature, so the discomfort fades away in a matter of days or weeks. Those kids with asthma are more at risk of contracting acute asthmatic bronchitis when they are exposed to the factors that cause this respiratory problem.
There really isn’t much information on bronchitis in children because there is nothing much to talk about. The kids get infected with a virus that can’t be treated. The worry on the parents could only be the fact that they are kept awake with their kids’ coughing. The condition usually goes away on its own and the children easily recover.
The virus that causes bronchitis is the same virus that causes the kids to have runny or stuffed noses. Every kid just need to wash their hands clean every time to prevent the spread of the virus to their friends or playmates.
Some doctors would recommend the use of the bronchodilator. This helps clear the air passageway in the lungs and allows the child to breathe easily.
To help your child with bronchitis:
• Give plenty of liquid like water and clear broths
• Do not let the child tire himself up at play. He needs to rest.
• Install a vaporizer or humidifier in the child’s bedroom
• Do not give him any cough syrups that are not recommended by you pediatrician.
It is also important, when treating bronchitis in children, not to give your child aspirin because this may case Reye’s syndrome, which could cause brain and liver damages.
